Freshman Dorm Room Tour

Freshman Dorm Room Tour

It’s that time of the year! Roommate matching and deciding where you are going to live!! It is so exciting to plan your dorm room and get all your room decorations! I wanted to share my dorm room tour from my freshman year!

My biggest tips for decorating your dorm room:

  1. See what decorations you already have (my roommate and I used her lamps she had from home)

  2. Split costs with your roommate! For example, I bought our bedskirts and she got the headboards, this worked well for us because we wanted matching decor

  3. Make use of every square inch of space. We used long navy bedskirts, and I had clear storage bins for clothes, extra towels, and everything else that needed somewhere to go. We also used clear storage pins for our “pantry”, to store shower caddies on, and for bathroom products.

My Top 5 Dorm Room essentials

  1. Drying Rack!! This makes doing laundry and air drying super easy!

  2. Headphones. To make sure your roommate isn’t annoyed with your Netflix shows

  3. Fans (you can’t always control the temperature in your room. AND they serve as white noise)

  4. Blankets (like I said, you can’t control the temperature in your room)

  5. Pictures!! I have three canvases from my trips to Nicaragua and I hung them over my bed and they were great conversation starters for whomever saw our room from our doorway.
