BAYLOR SING 2020: Practices to the Final Performance
Hi friends,
This year, I decided to be a part of Baylor Sing. If you don’t know what Sing is, it has been a Baylor tradition since 1953 and it is a chance for students to showcase their dancing and singing skills. Organizations can sign up with a max of 200 people in each act and we spend months practicing to perform for 2 weekends at the end of February. The two weekends, judges score the acts based on choreography, theme development, costumes, vocals, etc. and the top 8 acts get to perform at Pigskin in the fall! I did it with Chi O and out theme was “Moovin’ and Groovin’ and we were cows and milk maids. I signed up to be an extra, which means I was in one dance and then I held props the rest of the act. I am so glad I was a part of such a big Baylor tradition and wanted to share the process with the pictures I took.

Hope you enjoy :)
The first time I got my costume:
Obviously… it needed some serious help.
Practice in the chapter room that concludes with us watching the video to see how our act is looking
The full costume…
Practice off site:
We had practice off sight for more room and so we could watch ourselves in the mirrors.
Me headed to 4 hours worth of practice with a Diet Coke in hand :)
pics from practice :)
O P E N S T A G E:
every act gets multiple times where we get to practice on the stage.
Post intramural basketball game, we had dress rehearsal. I was nice and sweaty…
still very sweaty…

my completed makeup!
And just like that I am transformed into Molly the Milk Maid.
The second night we performed, my sweet roommate Bailey did my makeup 10x better than what I did. She nailed the smoky eye.
The fam came to watch! So I went to dinner in this crazy makeup…
Pictures from on stage :)))

Bailey had to document how good my makeup was!
ahahah half bare face and half stage makeup. A slight difference…
SO SO SO grateful for these two who made my Sing experience. So thankful for your friendship and the memories we made <3
Overall, this was a special experience. Being able to dance and be goofy with 200 other girls is an experience I won’t get again. I am for sure not a talented dancer, but I think this will be so fun to look back on and share with my kids someday. As someone who thought that I was going to be the next Taylor Swift in the entertainment industry, it’s fun to put on excessive amounts of stage makeup and twirl around in a skirt. I’m thankful for chi o and the opportunity to bond with some of my closest friends, and meet new girls in the chapter. I am thankful for the team spirit, encouraging others, and stepping into character to entertain and create memories.
Until next time-
x o x o,
Megan
