I MET SHAWN MENDES: my experience, tips & what to expect
I have put off writing this post because it really takes me back to all the emotions. But here we are. Here is all my expertise and tips and tricks after meeting Shawn Mendes.
We arrived at the Pepsi Center at 3:30. And the first tip I have is to be prepared for weather.
Look at other people’s Meet and Greet pictures when choosing your outfit that way you don’t clash and or blend in.
Prepare for any weather (take an umbrella just in case. It rained on us. So we had to use our jean jackets to cover our heads after spending hours getting ready.
Take your essential makeup items to touch up.
Take a phone charger. You’ll want your phone and the concert doesn’t start until later and you’ll need lots of battery life.
Make sure you know where you are going (i.e. know where the VIP section is)
Make friends with the people around you
It goes so fast, so enjoy it
Get there earlier than you need to
Bring as big of a bag as the arena allows that way you have somewhere to put all your swag
Go to the bathroom before you get into line. We ran into the problem of there not being a bathroom once we got in line to meet him.
BONUS: Shawn is as nice and as perfect in person.
Enjoy some pics from the day of:
The rain… we were not prepared.
And, this is the line we stood in… for about an hour. We talked to the girls in front of us. One of the girls had met Shawn before so we were able to ask her our burning questions.
We were also the second people in line…
THE PRE-MEET AND GREET ROOM:
There were Shawn’s old clothes and guitars and since we were first in line, we didn’t really have time to take it all in.
As you can see on my face, the look of pure fear and disbelief that I was about to meet him. I could hear Shawn talking through the curtain and I lost it.
They started playing “Beautiful People” by Khalid and the body guard looked at me and asked, “are you ready?”
And… I was as ready as I could have been.
MEETING SHAWN:
He is so sweet. And so tall . And skinny. And yes, he smelled good. Honestly this moment was such a blur.
I was so bold. If you know me, you know that I want to marry Shawn. So I walked in, and looked him dead in the eyes and said “Just so you know, I am the only one old enough here to date you.” He looked at me, giggled and told me “enjoy the show!”
This seriously happened so quickly. But I loved it. And seriously, most of the people meeting Shawn were in high school, or 10 years old at their first concert. So, I really had to just put myself out there.
Then, my sister went in. She hugged him and he asked her, “was that your sister??”
So… Shawn asked about me. It’s fine. I’m fine.
THE Q&A:
One of the perks of meeting Shawn first, was that we were the first ones into the q&a room, therefore putting us in the first row. Which was incredible. Please enjoy these pics of Shawn…
WE COULD SMELL HIS COFFEE!!! Obsessed. Even though Shawn didn’t answer our question, he picked on the girls next to us, and the q&a is honestly genius. It makes the meet and greet even more worth it. Actually meeting Shawn goes by so quickly that this 20 minute time is so fun.
Then, we had like an hour and a half before the show, so we went and bought merch, and ate dinner.
THE CONCERT:
Incredible. If you have not seen Shawn in concert… you need to. He is incredible live. And I have never seen an artist so passionate about music and Shawn genuinely enjoys performing. You can hear him smile as he sings. He loves it. And it is so fun to watch.
With our meet and greet package, we had 6th row tickets. There are options to buy concert tickets separately, but it was nice to be sitting with other people from the Meet & Greet and the Q&A.
^^ Sydney crying… It was emotional
WOW. No words. Luckily, as Shawn performed his last song, we knew we would be seeing this tour again soon :) Stay tuned for a future blog post.
AND,
to finish off the night, we went to collect our signed guitars. I told my sister that my song writing days are coming back…
WHAT. AN. EXPERIENCE. Such a once in a lifetime experience. And it was fun to go through it all with my sister (P.S. thank you Sydney for helping me craft this post)
Love you forever and always Shawn Mendes.
XOXO,
Megan
